ZIPS Cleaners was founded in 1996 by eight individuals in the Baltimore-Washington area who came together to create a one-price, high-quality dry cleaning concept with same day service.
The oldest ZIPS Cleaners location is in Rockville, Maryland, which opened on September 17th, 1996.
The first ZIPS Cleaners in Virginia opened on June 28, 1999 in Fredericksburg.
ZIPS Cleaners began franchising in 2006.
All ZIPS Cleaners locations were located in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania until February 2017, when our first store in Austin, Texas opened.
ZIPS Cleaners opened their first west coast location in May of 2017 in Costa Mesa, California.
The mascot of ZIPS Cleaners is a bee, which is often seen a grand openings and special events. As of 2021, ZIPS has 68 locations across the United States.
